alright folks!

first off, congratulations to all on a successful inauguration of the barbecue!

second, the deadline for roster submission for the taj tourney is coming up rapidly. i'm gonna send in a roster (or two) on our behalf by wednesday at the latest. right now i have 11 men and 3 women signed up. what would be ideal is to get about three more women to go, then split into two teams. the tournament is a 4-3 coed tourney, meaning that there have to be at least 3 people of each gender on the field at all times.

i haven't heard from nahoko or tamao about whether they want to go.
kumi says she can't go but i'm gonna challenge her to street-based footraces until she agrees to go along.
bruno's going, but what about yasuko???

if we can get a few more ladies, we can send two teams. hopefully our teams can play each other in the finals. if i don't hear from anybody else, i'm gonna send in the roster as i currently have it.

with jei we now have 12 guys. at least. that's three full lines of guys in a 4x3 system. so yeah, let's get a few more good women and make two squads.

i was talking with jolyon today at school and we remembered that there are only two games on saturday and one sunday (well two if you make the finals). so, it's really not that much running overall. i'd wager we all run more in one good sunday session at F/T than we would in two games at tajima. so, point is even if we only have three girls per team it wouldn't be all that bad.

last year when i was in hiroshima we took two teams, and as it turned out we had exactly seven each team (savage seven as they say in ulty jargon). it was a bit rough at times, but when one of the teams really needed it players from the other team (especially females) would just throw on a different jersey switch over to the other team. we didnt do this much, and it's probably officially not allowed, but we guessed no one would care, and we were right. so, that's another option.

come on kumi! come on yasuko! come on tamao! come on nahoko (i'll email her right now)! come on anyone/everyone else! we need you!

can anyone get a hold of joanne/adrian? j.c. - what about your friend from work?

and j, i was just talking with kerry, and maybe asking the showa girls is worth a shot. the tricky thing is how to diplomatically invite them but not the guys. that's gonna be tough...

also, there are usually a few individual wandering minstrel players who want to play but don't have a team. if we really need a couple more females i bet we could find takers (j, maybe you could contact the organizers about this?)

yo "can you tell i really think we should have two teams?" shio

unfortunately for me, the only showa mail addresses i have are for guys. this was poor strategy on my part, and i'm not sure how to diplomatically go about just asking gals to come along (hey guys, let me steal your women!). i'll give it a shot, though. you don't know unless you try. we're right down to the wire, though, so i doubt that we can hope for much.
