I just read a blog that showed a picture of a sign that said 「丹沢ではテント禁止」or, "No tents in Tanzawa". I have been up there and camped a couple of times and have not seen such a sign. Was wondering how strictly this was enforced and if I should be concerned about it when I go up for a two or three day hike.

Reply to my own post.... was up in the rest area just before Fudonomine (when approaching Hirugatake from the south), where the "No Tents in Tanzawa" sign is posted. I had been past this rest area a couple of times, and camped once.

Well, this time I was by there at about 3 p.m. and was looking for a camp site. One other tent was laid out on the ground but not setup. I setup camp too just before sundown. The sign is in the shelter that is at that rest area, but it seems that few pay any attention.
