It never occurred to me before today that there could be an opportunity to rent or buy a houseboat in Tokyo.
Then I saw this photo and the reference to houseboats here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinagawa,_Tokyo
and I've got to have or rent one if it's possible.

Does anyone know how I would go about finding information and what may be involved?

I'm in the United States but would be interested in renting for a year or preferably buying.
Can I buy the slip too or are they just for rent?

Although Tokyo is my first choice, I am open to opportunities anywhere in Japan.
