I'm going to Okinawa this Obon season, but I'm having a really hard time finding any information about campsites on or near the beach - online and from tourist info. centers! What to do? I'm a female on my own, so I'm not sure about just putting my tent up on the beach. I'd also like to find something near where I can get some food, since it'd be much easier that way. I'm thinking to go to Miyakojima or Ishigaki right now, but really at this point, I'd be happy with any information I can find. Any information or phone numbers anyone could help out with would be super appreciated!! Thank you! -Marisa

Greetings from Ishigaki Island! There is a beautiful campground located at Yonehara Beach. The beach is easily accessible by local bus and the snorkeling there is great!! For more info. on the island you can contact the city hall public relations dept. there is a foreigner working there they have an informative web site.
