| I've been skimboarding at Chigasaki beach in the Shonan area since May of 2003. There is just something about the vibe of Chigasaki town. To me it feels a little bit like a surfer town. The owner of a local surf shop right on the beach, Suzuki-san, can speak English and has surfed in Florida (though his store looked closed for good last fall). My favorite time to go there is in April, May, and June. The beach is still clean at those times, there aren't many bathers getting in the way, and on a week day, you could have the whole beach to yourself. Jason |
