Hey all, I am new to Japan and will be living and working in Tateyama City, Chiba.

I have my climbing gear (minus the rope) and surfboards with me.

Can anyone suggest good places to get started in the Chiba area. I should have a car, but would like to stay somewhat local to Tateyama. Any suggestions on climbing spots and surf breaks?

Ive seen some flaky clifs down there but must be some well worn coastal rocks to play on...

Hey Patrick,

I am new in Tsukuba (40km-ish north of Tokyo) and I can get to Tokyo easily. I have heard Chiba got some good bouldering/routes. I would be interested in joining you for some climbing sometime. I have a harness, ATC but no other gears though.
