Guests and Non-members ... you need to sign up on the OCJ website.

Sign up is here:
http://outdoorclubjapan.com/en...iny-season-may-3031/

Members can invite guests to the BBQ camp and non-club members may sign up for this event. In both cases all guests and non-members must sign a club safety agreement and pay a 1 event only membership fee of 1,000en. Everyone also pays the 1,000en organizer fee and other costs.

Wednesday lodges will be reserved for the group number and from Thursday there will be a 'late' sign up charge of another 1,000en for the extra work created.

I recommend guests join the club for 1 year or half year so that they can join other outdoor events but if they prefer they can use the "1 event only club membership".Sign up must be done on the train or at the campsite.

Please sign up using comment box: state if you will be staying in lodge or your tent (cheaper usually). Also women can request a women's only lodge if they are available. And if you are a non-member please include that.

Big group BBQ Camp or Lodge (pre-rainy season) May 30,31.

Koesawa Buttress Campsite near Hatonusu station on the Ome like to Okutama.

Cancellation

Depends on the weather Friday PM. If bad we can cancel. If light rain sometimes, it will be worth going as we can cover the BBQ area.
If people take a tent and move to a lodge they need to pay for that.

Introduction

We have done a BBQ camp the first or 2nd weekend of June for several years now.
The rainy season is forecast to be a bit earlier this year so we will try the end of May. If bad weather June 6th is backup.

Been here at least twice and both times had great fun. It is close to Tokyo and easy access from the station but 30 minutes into the forest - nice. Usually a popular event with 30+ people attending.

Very 'green' campsite with a lot of nature around, rock climbing place, OCJ outside mixed bath by the stream, kind of assault training course for people to swing and climb around.

We might have some activities like orienteering/treasure hunt and interaction games. Also hiking Sunday.

For 1 night in cheap lodge/cottage accommodation about 2,000en+ .Also bath included and hot showers.

We will go group shopping in Ome in the morning (about 1,000-1,500en each). This pays for dinner, snacks, breakfast and usually lunchbox leftovers. You buy your own drinks to take.

Cost of Trip

Room: Around 2,000en. Usually tatami room. With your tent might be 1,000en cheaper.

Food: 1,000 to 1,500en. Might be a little extra for BBQ equipment and bath - about 200 to 500yen.

Rental futon set 700 to 1,000en if you need. Can use your own sleeping bag and mat.

Travel cost: Less than 2,000en total from Shinjuku.

Organizer fee for overnight trip 1,000en

Total cost about 7,000en (excluding futon rental and your drinks cost)

Meeting Time & Place

Soon... but around 10am Shinjuku JR station Saturday.

Things to Bring

Nothing special needed as most people stay in bungalow lodge.

If you go hiking you need proper outdoor footwear for that.

Plastic lunch box to eat from, knife, spoon, fork, chop sticks, plastic cup.
Anything useful for cooking - just 1 or 2 items; spatula, large cutting knife, cutting board, corkscrew ...
Ear plugs (you will need them).
Insect spray.

Suitable footwear for hiking - no sandals or gym pumps.
Flashlight/headlight useful.
PET water bottle for hiking
Climbers should have their own harness, boots and karabiners.
Towel and bathing suit for open outdoor bath.

Activities (Hiking etc)

Near the date of the trip. BBQ and social activities mainly with easy hike and rock climbing.

A treasure hunt round the camp site and some fun activities...

Drinks and candle light bath by the river.

General System
We will meet on Saturday 30th at Shinjuku JR about 10am or at Ome station. On the website or on the train we can discuss the menu for dinner and breakfast. People will then work in groups making a shopping list for a part of the menu.
On the train or at Ome everyone will pay for the food shopping, about 1,000en or 1,500en. We will then go in the supermarket and buy the stuff for the BBQ camp in the groups making the shopping lists. I will pay for everything at the end .... it always seems to come out near the budget! Buy your drinks there separately.
We get on the train again to hatonusu station and walk 40 minutes to the campsite with a shopping bag each.

We can take a rest, decide the lodges for people, pay the room fee etc. Around 3pm-4pm we will start preparing the food - again in the groups who went shopping for each menu item.

Everyone helps out cooking, washing or cleaning up. There will be an outdoor bath (swimming costume this time please!) and you can take drinks in, jump in the river etc.
Sunday will be an easy hike day or onsen perhaps. Several activities being discussed.

Those who come late must bring the shopping with them and receipt. They must bring something special - no yakisoba! They will also get the volunteer jobs leftover.

Example for Menu

Snacks and starters like cheese and crackers
BBQ meat n fish (a small group will make shopping list and buy items needed)
We might get a large fresh trout from fish farm ...
BBQ vegetables or backed vegetables in foil
Tempura
Salads
Thai curry
Indian curry
Soup
Stew
Baked potatoes and fillings
Pancakes
Fruit
Other deserts
