Hi all,

I'm planning a one-month trip to Japan in 2008 (hiking in Tohoku, horseback riding in Kyushu, and having fun in Okinawa). I know Tohoku in and out, and Okinawa is a popular destination, so I have no problem dealing with these parts of the trip.

However, I just can't find any info on horseback courses in Kyushu (or anywhere in Japan). I'd actually like to go for a 3 day trip through the Aso-Kuju NP, I have good riding skills, and price is not the biggest issue to me here... But I just can't find any club or association or company that offer such trips. I only find 2 hour-long courses... Frowner

If someone could help, he/she would really save my life!

Thanks a lot!

I do not do horseback riding, but am interested a little bit. In Japan, hb trekking is VERY poor, though horse races are popular and competitions are rather better. My freind tells she enjoys hb trekking in Canada, but NEVER in Japan...POOR and EXPENSIVE in Japan. I heard some better hb services are in Summer Hokkaido.
We say "GAIJYO"([外乗]: outdoor riding) as for hb trekking. You may find some GAIJYO clubs/services in this site.

Thanks a lot!

I heard about hb trekking in Japan being poor and expensive, but I still spent my weekend looking for everything I could look for on the web...

I found this very cool page : http://julian.main.jp/trail/list.shtml

It lists treks by distance/duration and price. Expensive indeed, in most cases...

Anyway, I may opt for a farmstay in Yonaguni (http://www.cosmos.ne.jp/~markun/) which seems awesome, exotic and inexpensive.
If someone's already been there, please tell me how it was.

Thanks a lot!
