I've got a climbing partner coming into Japan for work. He's going to located in a town called Matsue, down in Shimane-ken, but will have the weekend of July 25-26 free to climb.

Can anybody help me out with information about climbing down around there? Obviously some travel, e.g., to Hiroshima-ken, Okayama-ken, Tottori-ken or Hyogo-ken might be possible, but it looks like it would take something like ten hours to get him up to a station near Ogawayama, where I could pick him up, and that's probably too much.

Okay, so additional research shows that there's an area not too far from Matsue called Shimane Hanto. Anyone ever climbed there or heard anything about it?
